Summary:

Based Preston, Lancs. Experienced UNIX System Administrator with mostly open source toolsets.

Details:

You will be responsible for our internal "Development", "Staging" and "Live" systems which are currently running FreeBSD, FreeBSD and Linux respectively. You will also be occasionally called upon to assist in resolving client issues which may be for a variety of UNIX OS.

Our Development and Staging Servers are based in Preston, Lancashire and our Live Server is based at ThePlanet.com in Dallas. We will be Upgrading and moving our Main Servers to TelecityRedbus at Manchester.

We are looking to upgrade our current "Live" systems dramatically in the near future and you will have a significant role to play in specifying, installing and configuring the systems.

The main functions/features of the role include:

Backups
Installing/configuring software
Performance tuning
Problem resolution
Security
Supporting customers
Supporting internal users
User management

About You

Essential: It is essential that you have an exceptional proven track record in UNIX System Administration.

About the Location

We are based in the NW of the UK and for this role we believe that you can occasionally be based from Home. However, the majority of your time will be spend at our office in Preston.
