FAQ
System Administration
How do I change the logo on the standard letters?
Note
This is a simple task and should only take a few seconds to do. However, because you are making changes to the system we recommend that before undertaking this task you should ensure that you backup your data safely. It is recommended that this task only be undertaken by an experienced user or System Administrator.
Before you make changes to HR Complete system ensure that you have a full up to date copy of the database.
You can customise HR Complete to display your logo as a header on printed standard letters. HR Complete retrieves an image file from your computer hard disk each time it is needed. You can use any graphics file compatible with your computer. The most commonly used formats are .bmp, jpg, png and .gif. Our software is able to read any of these formats without any need to install additional drivers. If you wish to use another format you may need to ensure that the appropriate driver is installed on each computer that accesses HR Complete.
If you choose to use your own customised image for your letters you need to be aware that quality of the printed image depends on a number of factors. These include the resolution of the image, the quality of the printer and the dimensions of the image. Unlike the image on the switchboard HR Complete will NOT crop the image on your standard letters. Rather it will attempt to fit the image as effectively as possible in the space available. If this is unsatisfactory then all you need to do is change the dimensions of the source image correspondingly. If you need assistance then please contact our Technical Support.
When the system is first installed the default bitmap for letters is:
letters.bmp
The default location for this file in the live system is:
C:\Program Files\Software Complete\HR Complete\letters.bmp
The default location for this file in the test system is:
C:\Program Files\Software Complete\HR demoComplete\letters.bmp
Changing the file name
The name of the letters picture file can be changed on Settings Form 1.
Changing the file type
The file type of all picture files can be changed on the User Settings Form.
Changing the path
The path to all picture files can be changed on the User Settings Form.
Note
In a multi-user setting your System Administrator will have to decide whether the picture files will reside on a network drive or on each local PC. HR Complete is compatible with either option. Keeping the files on a server will make for easier configuration and maintenance. Keeping copies of the files on the local PC will make for slightly faster performance and reduced network traffic.
